P. pacifica , same general area and conditions as the Nephrosperma and Verschaffeltia, 7-8 OA, 2.5 feet of trunk...

Torched, damage total....grown in shade which is the kiss of death for this Prit. If it lives, it will get moved to a full sun area this spring.

By far, the most tender palm i have, with the exception of my Cyrtostachys....which will take a month or more to start the death throws i'm sure.....

Yep, no protection.....at some point in the future i would not be able to protect it, so i decided to not prolong what would probably be inevitable........

It is growing almost totally immersed in a small pond that auto fills early in the AM when it is cold, but i hold out little hope...and i have been given to understand that the decline is gradual over a couple of months, so time will tell.

I lost my lipstick palm sitting on the patio when it hit 38 degrees for a couple of days. I moved it to the garage which was still not warm enough. The decline has been and swift and total, it is almost completely brown, with spears coming out.

I have 4 seedlings, 2 leaves each. They have done surprisingly well this winter :hmm: I have protected them on the most cold of days, if we get a freeze warning, but they have been left out in temps as low as 35F with only minor spotting.

I have had Cyrtostachys in my garden (West Palm Beach) for over ten years. A few have died along the way. But many have survived. Trunks over 6 feet. This winter may have done them in. No damage observed after the cold, but now they look really bad. Many stems are dead. Hard to say if any will survive.
