Ficus aspera 'Parcell'- Mosaic or Clown Fig

Recommended Posts

Ficus aspera 'Parcell', Clown or Mosaic Fig, is a medium sized tree growing 25-40 ft. The cultivar 'Parcell' has nice variegated leaves. The inedible figs that are bright red and stand out against the variegated foliage.

Ficus aspera is native to the island of Vanuatu in the southwestern Pacific. Ours is about 20ft tall and loaded with red figs.

One of my favorite figs. Should be used more often in coastal SoCal as well. Haven't seen one here (CA) for years.

SoCal and SoFla; zone varies by location.

Eric,

I'd love to see a picture of the entire tree if you have one. The pic you posted looks really cool.

I've got one that's about 6' overall. Just putting out some colorful figs right now. The foliage is stunning and it doesn't seem to have invasive roots, which is good for where I have it planted. BTW, I had read that it is native to New Guinea, no?

I think this is a non-aggressive Ficus sp.

Here is a shot of mine. It grows in dappled sunlight under a palm.
