I was watching something on perhaps Discovery Channel about the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. A lady at Kew Gardens was asked what kind of plants would have been growing there. Amongst the names that made sense was this "various cactus". Now I'd really guess that someone working at Kew would know that there were NO CACTUS growing in Babylon at this time. Cactus are native only to the New World which had not yet been discovered by Europeans or those of the Mid-East. They even showed a picture of a Golden Barrel Cactus. Shame Shame.

Kew people would rarely if ever make that mistake. The place really is a world center for plant systematics and the display greenhouses are very, very good at labelling things correctly. The Princess of Wales house has separate rooms with different climates--heliconias over here, cacti over there, Canary Island species by themselves.

Did Discovery Channel get that program from BBC???

Fla. climate center: 100-119 days>85 F
USDA 1990 hardiness zone 9B
Current USDA hardiness zone 10a
4 km inland from Indian River; 27º N (equivalent to Brisbane)

Central Orlando's urban heat island may be warmer than us

Not sure, it was one of those on ancient discoveries. Didn't watch the whole think. Only saw that short section.

Dear Steve :)

Iam glad you pointed this mistake out,And i have seen many people who are spokes men or spoke person for a event, meet, news conference..usually talk whatever comes to their mind at that perticular given time, without making any prior preparation for the news release ! I suppose that is that they term it as Off Hand report or speach.

And all humans tend to do mistakes,And has become a common site everywhere.let it be newspapers, news article,tv report, etc.

Love,

Kris :)

love conquers all..

Who says those lands were never discovered? They've found enough artifacts from the Phoenicans in NW USA! Now explain that.

Noah was into animals. There was no palm, bromeliad, cycad, fern, rose, orchid or succulent societies on the Ark. :innocent:
