A local nurseryman had a plant sale at his house this past weekend. He had some really strange things. One of the plants we bought was called Witch's Broom or Blue Gorse. It is short with spikey leaves. Does anyone know anythng about this plant?

Kitty,

I don't know about "Blue" Gorse but, regular gorse is a significantly nasty temperate weed from Scotland and England. Is it spiny with pretty yellow flowers?

I don't know how it would act here but it is bad news in NZ and Oz. I even saw it at high altitude in Costa Rica.

Jerry,

I don't know if this is the same as the gorse in England and Scotland. I bought it from Joel Cripin who has it in his yard. He said it is very slow here and needs some protection from the sun. His has never flowered. He has it in his own garden.
