Is there anyone in the Canary Islands that is successfully growing Ceroxylon Ventricosum or Ceroxylon Q. in the Canary Islands? I apologize I speak no spanish (yet!) Plan on moving there shortly and wondering if I can grow these

Creo que las dos especies que dices no se cultivan en Canarias. Algunos Ceroxylon amazonicum y C. alpinum crecen bien en el zona costera. Pero C.quindiuense y otros no creo que vivirían. La mayoría de las especies necesitas clima fresco y podrían probarse en zonas altas, como por encima de 400 m. Creo que es posible, no crecerán como en los andes, pero...

I think the species you mention are not growing in the Canaries. Some Ceroxylon amazonicum and C. alpinum do grow fine in coastal areas. I don't think C.quindiuense and others would live at sea level. Most species need cool weather and should be tried at some elevation, like above 400 m. I believe it is possible, they will not grow as in the Andes, but...

Carlo, dices que el C. amazonicum sí puede vivir por allí. ¿Qué temperaturas mínimas aguanta? Lo digo porque voy a adquirir uno y es que... no tengo ni idea de cuánto puede resistir, aunque imagino que por frío no se morirá aquí...
