Anyone growing this plant around California?

Coastal San Diego, California

Dry summer subtropical/Mediterranean

warm summer/mild winter

Trying it now. I bough one from TT last winter. Tried to take cuttings because I heard it was easy. Both cuttings died. :( . I will plant out the mother shortly.

When reading about it they seem to take FL cold just fine. If they freeze, they come back from roots. Not sure how they will like cold damp SoCal soil in winter.

Did you buy them local?

I bought about 4 other tropical shrubs to try this year. If they do well I can pass it along.

Galphimia gracillis

Ruspolia hypocrateriformis hybrid (Ruttya Ruddy Rose Pink )

Strobilanthes flaccidifolius

Suessenguthia multisetosa

Two plants I tried last year to test made it through the winter and seem they will do fine here.

Dyschoriste hygrophyloides

Barleria cristata

Both of which flower year round.

Well...we're going to find out, you and I. I just planted a few small plants.
