How much cold can Jasmine minima handle? What about frost?

Thanks in advance,

Ray

Are you referring to the groundcover Asian Jasmine, Trachelospermum asiaticum ? If so, that is hardy into zone 7b so no need to worry about cold. The cultivar 'Minima' is a good, dense growing one with small, dark green leaves.

Eric,

It will be replacing my soon to be dead, one day a week hand watering, patch of St. Augustine grass. It will be planted on the easement where it will bake, shade free, for 8+ hours a day. I hope it's drought tolerant after becomming established too.

Yes, it is real drought tolerant and grows in sun or shade. Water it real good to get established then it should be fine.

Ray,

If you find a local source, let me know. I'd like to do the same on my easement. I'll keep an eye out for it at the USF sale tomorrow too.

It should be very easy to find at a local garden center or even a box store.

Ray,

Did you plant the Jasmine minima? I just loaded up on some and will be planting my strip with it in the am. Rainfall has been too iffy in these parts and I don't want to look at weeds anymore. I sold the lawnmower so more grass is out of the question.

I know this is a stupid question but can I mulch the area under it or do the tendrils have to touch soil to reroot themselves? I'd also like to know what kind of fert they like. I planned on mixing some black kow with our sugar sand then mulching.

Thanks!
