So now I figured I would post a topic on Mini Callas, since most of us are interested in growing on many scales. Holland, Ecuador, and New Zealand are known world wide for their mini calla product. Some new locations are also Kenya and Colombia, with Colombia growing the best quality that ships. Holland also grows amazing quality, problem is due to packing in tight boxes to make the freight cost feasible, the flowers get damaged and stressed heavily. Mini Callas are sold by length and variety, Length ususally ranging from 40, 50, 60cm and varieties in the hundreds. Colors can range from orange to brown to pink to black to red and so on, except there is no true red! The best red you would find is a variety called Red Sox, that in reality is a red/orange. All the harvesting is done by hand! farmers go in the early morning, and go through the fields grabbing the flowers by hand at their base and twisting and pulling them off. At my high point a month ago my company moved about 4,000 stems in a week, thats a bit above average, so in Holland on the auction per day, you would likely see about 30,000 stems or more, easily! Prices that I buy at can be from $0.60 a stem to about $4.00 a stem for orange color callas right now.

Whadda ya mean not tropical looking?

I can't think of a more tropical look than Callas.
