hot pink Corymbia (Eucalyptus) ptychocarpa flowering !

Our Corymbia ptychocarpa (formerly Eucalyptus) is flowering for the first time. This is one of the few showy colored Eucs that will grow in Florida. It is a northern Australian native. The unopened flower buds have little "caps" that come off when the flower emerges. I have read the flowers can range from white to crimson red, ours are hot pink. The flowers are about an inch across. The leaves are very large. Its also a fairly fast grower, this one was planted in Oct. 2006 and was about 3ft tall, its now about 7ft. Also, supposed to be hardy to about 25F.

That is a nice tree! I have never seen it offered anywhere. I assume you got seeds from habitat in NT?

We got this tree from Windmill Outback Nursery. Its an online site that sells Australian plants and has lots of different Euc seeds. Sometimes they have plants for sale.

We have another smaller specimen that came from a SoFL grower. I hope its a different color so we have 2 forms.
