Yeah I was wondering too. They are certainly nice looking plants there. Which Agaves?  They look nice too. Looks sorta protamericana ish.

I have not a clue on the agvae, i took them because I had not seen them look quite like that before, cactus and agaves are not my personal faves. it just happend to be the order of the day.

ocampo is west of mante, so yeah dependening on where you started from you could go down that road to get to tampico

right close to tula, up in some hills, the jefe of the ejido is supposed to be guarding them from the goats, cows ,etc drought etc... dug some up and brought them back, still to early to say if it was a success yet.

The big one looks like Biznaga Gigante to me (Echinocactus platycanthus).

That big cactus is Echinocactus platyacanthus.  There is one at Bustamante pictured in the cabanas at La FLordia (I think you went there, Zac?) they call El Gigante - is is 10 ft tall and must be many hundreds of years old.  I wanna go back!

A farewell to biodiversity.

Can´t imagine ($$$) why PROFEPA or somebody else stop either legal or illegal traffic of endangered, voulnerable of cactus (animals, plants). They are so slow growing, each day dissapears a specie some of they not even described before.

At the end México will be an empty space between USA and Guatemala without any animal or plant; like some palms, animals that you can see them every where but their natural habitat.
