Looks like my Alocasia Sanderiana was ferilized and has produced some berries. Do they taste good?? :rolleyes:

Has anyone here tried propagating these through seeds?

I have lots of questions:

When are you suppose to havest them?

Do you have to peel the fruit?

Do you baggy method them too?

Gene , they are easy .. fruit will get a little redder , harvest then . Squeeze the seeds out and give them a good wash .

Sow very shallowly in well drained media . Maybe use some of what you grow your bromeliads in as a base with some coarse sand and peat/rice husks on top. I have grown this sp. from seed along with a few other spp. and some hybrids .

Keep out of full sun , and also protect from heavy rains , as I lost dozens of seedlings in a period of heavy rains , they just turned to mush :angry:

Did you try grow the seedling from that berries of your Aloc.sanderiana. I´m looking for this species a long time and its berries are good for sending as a letter. I´m from middle Europa

This was a looooong time ago. I planted the whole pot in the ground, but I guess I already lost the plant because I don't remember seeing it in the gardens. But I think they sometimes go dormant and just send out leaves when conditions are right.

I haven't propagated this one.
