Hello,

Do you know if a pothos vine will climb up a bamboo stalk? I'm planning on getting a bamboo stalk, putting it in the center of a pot and let a pothos vine go up on it. I was thinking of using a non-treated piece of lumber, but a bamboo stalk would probably look better.

Thanks.

I belive pothos will climb a bamboo stalk. I have pothos all over my property and it climbs almost any palm, tree, etc. it comes in contact with. It will run as ground cover (with small leaves) until it reaches a tree or palm, etc., to climb. Then as it climbs the leaves get larger. I have it climbing a Caryota mitis palm in seed, queen palm trunk, Ficus altissima trunks, tree fern trunk, and on and on. Pothos vine as now become an out-of-control invasive for me.

Jeffrey, as Walt said, this can become an invasive. I used to think they were cool looking vines when they climbed a tree and the leaves got really big. But, they can get out of control really fast and take over your yard. They seem to climb just about anything they come in contact with. Pulling up vines became a never-ending battle in my backyard in Tampa. It's a nice looking vine, just be careful with it and don't let it wander...

Thanks for the responses. I plan to have this setup on a pot inside my lanai, so that way it doesn't have a chance of going crazy on me!

Hello Jeffrey,

Pothos vine will climb your leg if you allow it. It has also become a struggle to contain in my garden. Personally, I would choose Monstera or some other less invasive vine just to be safe. You have been forewarned LOL.
