Dear Palm Enthusiasts,

Our next meeting will be Saturday, July 19th in the coastal town of Encinitas, about 20 minutes north of San Diego and 10 minutes south of Oceanside. Neither garden has been toured before, so it should be a fun day for all.

Schedule:

11:00-12:15 AM Begin tour of the Riedler garden

12:15 Depart Riedler garden. Pick up lunch on your way to next garden- many

restaurants/ fast food at Leucadia and El Camino Real centers.

1:00 PM Tour the Asbagh garden

1:15 PM Plant auction and raffle

Garden of Mark and Val Riedler:

This is a five year old garden with some mature palms, a lot of smaller palms, tropicals and succulents. Built on a sloping lot with many terraces, you will enjoy this peaceful setting.

Directions: North or South on I-5 take Leucadia Blvd. exit, turn east on Leucadia Blvd.(which turns into Olivenhain Rd.) for 2.8 mi., turn Rt. on Rancho Santa Fe Rd., go 1.5 mi., turn Lt. on Lone Jack Rd., go 1.1 mi., turn Rt. on Camino Del Rancho .1 mi. jog left to Brookside Lane. Park on one side of the road leaving fire lane open.

Matching his love for the tropics with landscaping his home, Greg began his garden about 11 years ago. He has aesthetically combined the use of many types of tropical plants with decks, a pool, water features, curving pathways and created a garden of pure beauty. Included among his plantings are Royal Palms, Dypsis, Veitchia, Wodyetia, and many other genera. His garden emphasizes companion plants with color everywhere. This garden has been featured in many magazines including Sunset, Dream Gardens Across America, San Diego Home and Garden Lifestyles, Western Landscaping and others.
