At Paul's house was fast growing Syagrus botryophora

A beautiful Cyrtostachys renda.

During the visit, I was told that getting a Cyrtostachys planted and establishing some root growth gives them a better chance of surviving here. It makes sense and this one sure seems happy. Anyone else notice a better survival rate from our occasional cold weather when planted vs. a container?

Wow!! For a second there I thought it was Fairchild!! I swear, what a garden! Looks more like a botanical garden that you'd have to pay entry fees to get in to  :o

Gene,

      Just about every palm you see has been planted by Paul since he has lived there, with the exception of some tall Royals which I didn't photograph. Also some of the large trees were there prior to him coming as well.

Ryan was unable to make this tour of gardens. I can get him into these at anytime when he's ready to go.

Jeff - thanks.  I am just trying to get an idea of how long it will take some palms to grow.  I bought a 1 gallon Copernicia Baileyana a planted it in the ground and I have always wondered how long it will take to look like a tree and develope some trunk.

Hope there are more pictures coming.

Our next stop was at Mike Harris. Mike has approx. 5 acres with a good size lake and oak trees well over 100 years old. This first picture is one of many Corypha umbraculifera's on the property.
