Sorry to hear that Ed Moore passed away on the same day as Pauleen.

Now living the life in Childers, Queensland.

No doubt - Ed was one of the core forefathers of today's IPS. So many of the present day palm junkies have no idea what it was like back when the IPS was started. I became involved in 1980, and only got a glimpse of how things had been, and how difficult it was to find palms, get information, and grab the occasional new discovery that found its way to cultivation. We owe a lot to this passing generation.

I only met Ed once on a garden tour to his place in the 80s. He was instantly likable, and at the time all these "old" palm mentors were intimidating to me as a neophyte. But Ed made me feel like one of the gang. It's not often you get to meet people that have species, or even genera, named after them.

I think I heard of him... I'm sure he will be missed. Is his garden still around?

I do some experiments and learning in my garden with palms so you don't have to experience the pain! Look at my old threads to find various observations and tips!
