So yesterday I was potting up plants all morning and I ended up doing something I have been wanting to try for awhile. I have 2 Cameron blue Agave Potatorum and I want to try to core and halve one of them to make it throw alot of pups. I did not come up with this technique on my own
(I’m not that good🤣). The info is readily available online. So I did this on 5/2 and we will just see if it works. I love nerding out with plant experiments! Here is a pick of the plant before it went under the knife.

Urban Rainforest Palms,Cycads and Exotics. Were in San Diego Ca. about 5 miles from the beach on Tecolote canyon. It seems to be an ideal growing climate with moderate temps. and very little frost. Vacation Rental in Leilani Estates, big island Hi PM me if interested in staying there.

First you need to cut the cone of new leaves off. You need to do this to find out exactly where the center is to make your cut.

After you halve it you need cut out the remaining layers of leaves and a tiny bit of the meristem.

All potted up and good to go👍Time will tell and I will keep ya’ll posted as to the results. You want to pot it up in a short wide pot to allow room for the developing pups. Btw I hit the wound with fungicide, rooting powder and Cinnamon but probably not needed.

I've used this technique a couple of times recently for pineapples, although I quartered them, rather than halved...also got the idea from web wisdom, lol! Seems to work really well.

Good luck!
