what in your opinion is the most accurate and reliable weather app for Florida? I use AccuWeather.

Featured Replies

most reliable.

I frequently visit Weather.com, NWS, AccuWeather, and Weather Underground.  If I had to pick one for being closest to the weather for my area, it's a toss-up between NWS and Weather.com.  Weather.com has a longer range forecast that is useful for looking where potential cold fronts might be popping up.  These sites will sometimes use different models for their forecasts, much like the Apple weather app.  At that point, one will be closer than the other.  It isn't always the same one.

AccuWeather tends to report off of the closest NWS station, so not necessarily inaccurate unless a few of the local stations are down - like reporting off of Tampa for here if our station is down.  WUnderground is good for comparing things on WUndermap.

Here,  in CA,   or anywhere else i've lived...

Day to day:
Most reliable ( ..but never 100%, 100% of the time either )  Weather Underground, Tropical Tidbits,  and Pivotal WX.

Gazing over longer tern forecast thoughts:

Tidbits

Pivotal

Copernicus

ECMWF ( " ECMWF Charts " gets you to the 6 week outlook thoughts, updated daily around 1pm local time )

CPC 6 to 10 / 8 to 14, and 3 to 4 week outlooks / monthly  and seasonal outlooks ..Good to look over, but not bet a house on..

SOTO ( State of the Ocean )  =  checking Sea Surf Temps  NOAA's SST - related pages are ok, but Soto's is the best..

IRI = for ENSO phase related forecast thoughts  ..Stormsurf = Pacific forecast and embedded  " ENSO Powertool " in the Pacific Forecast link on the main page as well..

C.O.D. = College of DuPage's Nex Lab page = Satellite data ..BEST such product out there..

Worst and frankly really dumb on my part for even looking at..

Farmer's Almanac info..  ..What year is it? 1500??     .. NEVER accurate,  ....EVER.

Acccuweather ( IE:  RARELY - Accurate weather,  lol )

Weather.com    ..If it comes from the weather channel, it is trash.

Apple weather app. anything..    Apple -anything ( everything )- should always  be fed to a raging fire regardless..

Anything from Lleona ( Muskrat..  )

Not sure if it's still around ( and can't remember the name, either, lol ) but there was a decent app around back in the 2009- 11 timeframe i'd used in FL. that was ok.. and would show temp / wind  / and lightning strike data in real time as fronts were blowing through.

Daniel Swain ( Weather West  ..BEST source for regional wx thoughts from a trustworthy individual btw,  ) did a great blog post some time ago discussing why 99% of WX apps are absolute trash and should never be trusted.

***  One other thing i totally forgot to mention:

Goes by S.Cal / AZ " Weather Force " here ( and in CA, duh, lol ) No clue what alias he goes by in other parts of the country but...

Kevin Martin  ..the infamous " facebook weather " " dude "?

If you're gullible enough to trust -anything- he talk about, that relates to weather -anything?  You deserve to have been scammed ( and shamed )..

Do a little background check and you'll see a few reasons why ( FBI visits, for threatening NWS forecasters / others,  Scam alert notices,  being beat up in a bar - different reason-  etc, etc ) VERY easy to sus that guy's reputation out  ..Unless uber - lazy.

I'd trust Accuweather  in-accuracy wayy before trusting one word from that guy.

Now the Weather " Farce "  facebook page ( ..and the " Tucson Monsoon fb page " )  ..for us locals?,   if either is still around?

Absolutely hilarious,  ...In a good way.  :greenthumb:

Accuweather is almost worthless (esp. during the winter) more than a week out. By the time they adjust the forecast to whatever shift that is impending, it has already been picked up other sources.

I use AccuWeather yet they been wrong lately any suggestions?

I think the NOAA and NWS budget cuts have rendered pretty much everything worthless. It's either hot or cold and it's either raining or it's not at this point.
