I'm thinking about a Washingtonia Filifera, to plant one next spring, like a replacement for a peach tree that doesnt produce any fruit anymore. Anyone found any good sells online for Slovenia? What about protection from wetness?

Try to buy Washintonia x Filibusta seeds from RPS Germany, they are more resistant to cold.

There is coming cold, significant arctic air which maybe wont disapear the whole january(how is this even possible). The palm is protected and i will add anytging that will help it survive such as christmas lights or hot plastic bottles.

Put frost netting on it. But you must wrap the entire palm tree.

I did make a box like shelter and added dry straw in there so the whole palm in covered and protected and a roof on top and frost fleece around the box

January 14th: the cold front, which brought -11C to our area and -15C to -18C in many more northern areas in slovenia is finally over, while most of Slovenia still gets frost eevry night and foggy days, the southwestern air moved into our area which brough 14C today, and 12C yesterday, the wind gusts went to 60km/h but no damage to any plants. The canary island date palm survived with no damage, bwcause of the thermal heat i gave it and snow as an insulator, the mediterean fan palm also survived with no damage, and thankfully, the little pup is ok.(This winter is below average temps, which we dont see below -8C every winter)

UPDATE: The Phoenix palm has survived winter with only minor leaf burn, these photos were took 2 weeks ago and because we were often in 18C-20C highs started in mid february, it has pushed a leaf out and the leaf grew around 5cm(the last photo) As today, it is forecasted for the area with highs of 20X-25C and lows around 8C-12C.
