So Im a landscaper and one of my clients wanted me to trim a huge 50 year old cactus on their property. I know little about cactus but I had been eating the fruits off of it for a couple years and found them to taste like dragon fruit! I brought some of the arms home to try to root them out and this evening I had my first flower open and I counted like 7 flower buds! So hoping some of you cactus enthusiast can tell me what I got and if I hand pollinate at night when the flowers are open will I get more fruits? It is kinda blue green color.

I have several. They grow well in the shade too.  Seeing a 30' tall one growing in a grove of invasive Australian Pine is surreal.  That was my first time experiencing this great species. After that, I knew I had to have one.

Thanks Ratetype for the species ID! They are loaded with flower buds now and yes the one I took the cuttings from was pretty massive. Im sure they would stretch out even more in a grove of trees like you described.
