I'm finally getting around to planting out these two hybrids and it has been interesting to note that one retains a greenish boot while the other is purple. Petiole struture appears similar on each without exhibiting true thorns.  These have become some of the most ornamental hybrids in my collection with curving, silevrish fronds.  I plan to put one on each side of my driveway.  Who else is20250627_110015.thumb.jpg.55513efe747e7a5b6d92207cb2963823.jpg growing these with maybe photos of some a little more mature?

Those are cool hybrids!  I think @OC2Texaspalmlvr has a larger one.  Interesting with the color variation from the Butia mother.  The one with more purple might have more Butia genes so might be more cold hardy and/or grow slower than the other.  Who knows?  I have 3 standard mules and the fastest one has purple petioles and boots.  Some think this indicates more Butia genes but I have queens with a lot of purple too!

I uhhh I read that there's someone on here who left one outside in a pot on a 9° night and it's still alive.

Same here. None of my Patric hybrids are armed like that.

Did you order them from him directly? If so what size?

I grow this hybrid in San Marcos, TX z8b. It now has 12’ of trunk and is a stunning hybrid.

I bought them in July of 2020.

They arent quite spikes or thorns. More like firm hairy ridges, not a true thorn.

Hey Matt, it's been forever since Ive seen you or been much on here. How wide do the trunks get? Looking more online it seems these are on the thinner side. I may rethink my decision as I was wanting two stately size palms on each side of the drive.

Ive got so many other hybrids Ive been saving to hit the ground for many yrs. Ive already got a bjxq and bxpjbc in the ground. Trying to decide what to do but not much references to go on.

The trunk resembles a thin mule. Mine is 12” in diameter and about 36” in circumference.

Very nice! Im trying to figure out how I want to place the bxmonty, bxs.coronata and bxpb toraylli, just dont see too many mature yet to get an idea of true size. Are the two growing at the same speed? These bxlyto have taken off recently, despite the boot color they are identical in look/speed.

That is my BxPJT which has spear pulled the last 2 winters. It was bigger then the BxLytoWedd when they both went in the ground. Im actually kind bummed about it was expecting much more size. My BxMonty actually has passed it up in girth.

At one time yes but the BxLytoWedd has done significantly better with our winters so it's in rocket mode while the BxPJT is limping along.

I never really thought of it as one of my prized possessions when I got it. Leaning on my BxPJT , BxJ , BxMonty and BxPJS. BxLytoWedd has turned into an absolute stunner for me. It has all the good genes from its parents and none of the bad ones haha Way faster then a regular Butia , whimsical like a Lyto Wedd with great hardiness. Wish I had gotten more from Patric !

Mine has taken all year to recover, and I know I've mentioned this a billion times on here, but it survived 9°F in a pot protected only by a waist high brick wall. It's kinda funny looking now because it's replacing it's entire crown at once. But it lives. I know it's rootbound but I'm scared to repot it while it's in recovery mode. I can get pictures later but there's def some floating around on here and ohhhh it's in this video I shot a few hours ago.

Yes sir

Its the smallest of my Patric hybrids,  also the last one to go in the ground. Definite hybrid vigor for sure !

I have two still in pots.  One leans more Butia the other is taller and more Parajubaea. Next year might be the year for them to go in the ground.

Hopefully we get a mild winter and these Patric hybrids can keep chugging along. Spear pulling every year is getting old.

Random question but are the hybrid fruits edible like Odorata?

I mean, I guess in theory everything is edible if you're hungry enough, even the biscuits at Popeyes work if you're absolutely starving.
