A great palm to have in the collection an old favourite one for collectors. With rubrum leaving the old album way behind in looks you still can’t beat the good old album. This one is 23 years old and as tough as nails growing in a rocky dry part of the garden yet still putting on a display like princess would.

Looks like a slow one . This isn’t one I’ve seen before , only in pictures. The fronds almost look cycad-like. Harry

What variety, aureum or furfuraceum or rubrum?

It’s an old favourite among collectors the princess palm. The rubrum  var is even  better looking.

I think it’s an aureum they were the most common back in the day. It was a popular palm in the chain stores then it just  disappeared from the market. It was when new palms where being introduced during the dypsis era when they  hit the shores of Australia bottle palms triangles dypsis rivularis plus a few others there all common now days but very new back then 20 plus years ago.
