When the work is being done, for me it is plain old Bud Light straight from the can.

In viewing mode only, a Greg Norman Cabernet does it for me.  Unless it is a really hot midsummer day, in which case I may revert back to the Bud Light.

And on a cool/cold morning, nothing beats an early walk through the gardens with a steaming cup of dark roast coffee.

So, what beverage heightens your palm viewing pleasure?

Omigad!

You mean -- there's different poisons?

Hmm..

One poison for digging deep into the ground, burying dead pit-bulls, another for digging less deep to drop in a gallon-size Kentiopsis on a hot summer day . . . .

And another for a conclave in autumn . . .

If you can match wines with food, why not palms? If I'm looking at an Archo species, I'm drinking an Aussie Shiraz. If it's a Jubaea, give me a big, lean Chilean Cabernet.

A Brahea armata looks at me and says "senor, would you prefer a Corona or a Pacifico". I might try hanging out with my Royal and downing a Mojito next Summer.

If I am working, nothing beats water.

If I am viewing or contemplating my next bed, it is usually a red wine.  Right now I am drinking Sebeka Cabernet Pinotage - a good one from South Africa.  I am also partial to shirazs from Australia.  If it is hot, it is usually iced tea with lots of lime.

And on the cool mornings or evenings, it is usually a great cup of organic dark roast coffee.

I'm not much of a bottled or canned beer person.  My beer of choice is Guiness on tap - in a pub in Ireland.

Fun topic Keith.

I agree nothing like first thing in the morning. Peace and quiet, sun just coming up, hot air balloons launching out of wine country, strolling around the yard, with a nice steaming cup-O-java.

Later in day, nothing better than a cold frosty one or two or three.

Usually when we have guest over and doing a tour through the yard, da bar OPENS UP. :D  We pretty much can offer you anything. I like a vodka and cranberry. Andrea likes a her white wine. I never did learn to drink beer. But........I just don't drink to drink. Only if someone else is having one. And after 3-4 drinks, they start saying how nice the garden looks, and how everything has doubled in size since "last month". I just smile. :D

If working out in them then just ice cold water.

If not then gin, lime juice and a splash of tonic. Or Corona, Spaten, Pyramid Ale or any red beer.

Koffee & Kahluah is best for morning.

I make a blend of NewOrleans French Market & Cuban expresso  2/1..it rivals Turkish coffee for strength

That Norleans/Cubano blend sounds like it might be better than a IV caffiene drip!!

When working I like to drink the same thing as the palms...  Loads of water, but I've been known to sneak in a diet Mt. Dew or Coke Zero for a boost of caffienation!!

For a palm viewing in the winter (Jan-Feb) a cup of Blue Heaven with a halfslice of an orange from the Carriage Light out there in Parkland is a treat!  During the summer (the rest of the year) a cup of chilled Vanilla Bean with fresh mint sprig from www.mightyleaf.com would be perfect!

Nothing can beat Ice Tea,especially when working.I do like a good gin and tonic while veiwing my garden and it also protects me from malaria!

Dark Espresso Coffee each working afternoon as a kickstart.

Sometimes green tea with jasmin and fresh peppermint leaves.

For working breaks during cooler winter, sometimes I make a "tea" of Caisimón (Piper auritum) or Pimienta dulce (Pimenta dioica), that I can pick fresh from the plants, or a sip of sweet wine or ron miel (rhum and honey). In hotter summer, coffee again, liters of water and a few beers.

I have some clumps of sugarcane around, that we often split and chew as a break. I would like to get a small manual mill to squeeze sugarcane, so I can make fresh guarapo year round. This would be the final energy drink. Does anybody know where I can get one?

Palm wine would be great if it was as easy to get here as in Indonesia . Amazingly enough it was often cheaper than bottled water !

If its been warm, and I'm ready to watch/relax, not work,  I'm partial too:

A Dublin Dr Pepper.  (the original pure cane sugar receipe, available on line.)

Henry Winehards Orange Cream soda.

When hot and working, cold water. As a matter of fact a stainless steel drinking fountain for the garage has been in the plans since day one.

You can see it behind this motley crew...(glad I got it from a demo job, barely used on a "workout house", didn't know they run over $1,000. !!)

Kitty,

we're back (got back Sunday night) and its nice a warm. Now my choice of drink is Soy Chai Latte and popsicles.

I came back to the nasty surprise that my hard drive crashed. I lost all my stored data; music, photos not yet on photobucket, documents, my daughter's science project....

No gardening in the immediate future til the PC gets reloaded, LOL.

I like a nice drop of Margaret River red but prefer not to do a garden walk with a glass of wine in hand, chances of spillage are dramatically increased.

In the mornings, a hot cup of coffee is sooooo nice while stroling around the garden deciding what to do for the day.

After that, chug 3 or 4 large glasses of water to get hydrated and grab a cold diet cola for a kick of cafeine while working.

For evening garden walks, beer.  Dosen't matter what kind, just keep 'em coming.  And if Paul's around we might have to crack open some Saki.  Kampai!!!!!!!!! :P

I keep waiting for red wine season to come, but so far, its still too hot. Its supposed to be 80 all week, which is great! So we'll keep on with white wine out by the pool. Got the chiminea and pinon wood out just in case, but so far haven't used it. Its fun to sip sherry around a good pinon fire while bundled up in a blankey.
