I remember visiting a friend who lives in Kauai. I gathered so many seeds , cleans and bagged , then layered in my suit case with my clothes . It is a blessing and a curse. I just can’t pass up seeds from palms we don’t normally see. It sounds like you are the same. Harry

I was in the States and I worried about having them confiscated. I am not familiar with bringing in seeds from other countries. I said nothing when we checked our bags but worried that maybe I was doing something that was not legal. Harry

@ZPalms I thought you were going to say something like, "You know you're a palm addict when you spend more $ on palms than your car."  :D

That’s where my money goes usually, directly to the palms 😂

You know you're a palm ''addict''/enthusiast when you send friends on travel to garden centers to take pictures of the palms on sale in their location, in case you wanna buy any of them.

In fact, you might make trips to certain locations just for the purposes of seeing what kind of palms they have on sale there, and then bring some of those home with you.

I was in Oakhurst California ( by Yosemite) visiting my brother in about 1995 . We went to the local grocery store to get stuff to take for a holiday dinner . It was Christmas time and cold out . This small store had a section where you could get potted plants . In the corner , with a half price sticker was a nice Caryota Mitis in a ten inch pot . My wife thought I had gone around the bend when I insisted on buying it to take home . I didn’t plant it in the ground until we bought our new house later in 1997 . It is still growing after flowering a few times and producing new stems when I have to cut down the dead ones. I remember sticking it in the back seat of the car for the trip home and the look on my wife’s face. At that point we agreed
there may be a palm addiction! Harry

@meridannight I too find nothing strange about that.  :D  When we were vacationing in the Keys with my parents a few years ago, I saw a giant agave-ish plant in the bushes at our B&B.  I went looking for pups to take home, but there were none visible.  My mom went searching and found a pile of yard debris behind a fence.  She asked the groundskeeper and convinced her to give us a couple of pups they had tossed in the pile.  So we drove back home with a garbage bag full of pups in the back seat between my wife and I.  Here's one of them about 5 years later:

Yeah, that was my assumption.  Originally I thought it might be a green Weberi, but it doesn't have a true terminal spine so it's not an agave.  The leaves are significantly thicker than my variegated Foetida, and it's hardy to frost in the upper 20s.  I suppose that's not too unusual, though.  :D
