A little something you don't see everyday.in AZ. I was able to capture a few pics of my largest date palm with a bit of the northern lights/aurora in the background. Hopefully others were able to snap a few pics. Photos were just taking with a cellphone camera.

Pace, Florida

No palms in the shots unfortunately, would’ve been cool if I had thought of that.

From Chandler..  Possibly caught a shooting star in the first shot as well.  Clearly visible to the naked eye, even with all the city light pollution.  Wish it could have lasted longer.

Have been hearing reports this event was visible as far south as just south of the AZ / Mex. border.

I saw pictures out of Cuba, Jamaica, the Bahamas, and the Florida Keys lastnight on the former bird app. It was visible throughout most of Florida. After about 11:30 pm lastnight we didnt catch much of anything so we had our hour of fun. Even if we dont see it again tonight, it was certainly awesome to see!

Definitely one of the rarer things you'll get to see ..from your own backyard in a lifetime..  Last time i recall seeing the Auroras was back in the late 90s, and it wasn't half as bright / easy to notice as they were last night ..In CA ( at that time ) at least..

While the brightest display didn't last too long ...Want to say 30-45mins... there was a distinct pinkish glow that lingered close to the horizon from about midnight until i turned in around 2AM that wasn't light pollution - generated..

As bright as they were in town, i can only imagine how much brighter the peak of last nights event could have been on the outskirts where light pollution is much less of a factor, esp. for folks located on the north side of the valley  ... further out in the desert where the light pollution factor is even further reduced, i'm sure it was a sight anyone able to view won't soon forget.

We'll see about tonight.. Fingers crossed it's at least as good as last night / is easily viewable this far south again, ...but not disappointed if not ...though 2 nights -in a row- would be pretty neat. 🤞 ..We'll see what happens in a few hours..

If I hadn't seen your posting last night, I would have missed them. Thank you! I'm up in the North Bay in California and as soon as I read your message, I went out side and there they were!

Already shots of the Aurora as far south as N. Virginia and N. FL. Could be viewable about as far south ( Maybe further south, if this event over performs ) as they were back in May.

A couple more from last night..  Rest are elsewhere..  Light pollution? not too much of a problem. No doubt they would have been better when viewed w/ less.   Next time..

Makes me jealous! A sight I've wanted to see and missed while in northern latitudes. Lovely colors!

I couldn't find it again but someone posted a shot of what they could see from Oceanside last night.  Not as bright as what i could see here ( which wasn't near as bright as what was observed away from town, back east, and / or further north ) but you could see the pink / red-ish colors through the city light haze in the shot.

Keep a casual eye on the Aurora forecasts from time to time ( Accessible via the " NWS " Space Weather " website,  or the " Aurora Forecast " from the Geophysical Institute < University of Alaska > )

Current solar cycle hasn't peaked yet and from what i keep hearing,  there's still plenty of time for another Aurora event as good -maybe better- than what was seen back in May ..or last night.

Seeing shots of bright Aurora in Hawaii would be something else..

My view was primarily just a pink tinted sky, but I could actually see changes in intensity and movement just south of 30oN.

I really wish there had been a new moon, so I could have seen more.

Possibly the furthest south this Aurora event was seen:  From Chris Wicklund:
