What happened to the search engine?

Seems to have limits on where you can search.  Use to be able to limit search to topic titles, now only the whole kit and kabodle...titles and anyplace w/in a sentence

I did a little test. First go to the forum where you want to do the search. Then hover over the little "magnifying glass" icon, and "This Forum" appears. Click on the little arrow to view a drop-down menu. If you want to search "everywhere" go to the main page that shows all the forum titles.

Then type in the item you are searching for and hit the search icon again.

Alternatively, just type in what you are looking for, such as Verschaffeltia, and you'll get this:

Note on the right side, the little gray box with the plus sign -- click on that for more specific choices, like this:

I'm doing this on a MacBook Pro, maybe not all devices work the same. Circle back if you still have problems.

Thanks for chiming in Kim. You basically nailed it. To put things another way…..

You are right - on different devices how to get to other search options, or how they appear may be different. There is a standard (no frills search as the default) search, that searches depending on where you are when you start.

And the last option Kim noted with more specific search choices is called “Advanced Search” and becomes available, as she noted, by clicking on the “+” sign - or on some devices by clicking on a little gear icon in the Search Box if available. That is also where the Member Search is - but mostly used for narrowing down a search by date, topic, key words, author, etc.

Thanks to those of you who help make this a fun and friendly forum.
