I dont post nearly as much as I should so today I thought I would post photos of some of my palms in my garden. A lot of the names are from memory so hopefully I get them right. I grew all of them from seed over the last 20 years.

First up is Itaya amicorum

This is another favorite of mine. It has the most beautiful silvery, white underside of the leafs. Its hard to capture the beauty in a photo.

Super nice! I'm guessing this is in Caleta?

This is a second generation Dictyosperma album var. album. My first one seeded and then died. Luckly the seed was good and germinated easily.

This is an example of why I bought Dictyosperma Album. Yours looks perfect. Unfortunately I don’t think mine will ever look as healthy. We don’t get the heat or humidity needed. Oh well….

For some reason any photo I had with the naming convention of bismarckia wouldnt load so I took new photos and named them differently.

The placement of the one in the second photo is a bit of a problem. Its a female and the seed inflorescence damage the tin roof when they fall. I try to keep them trimmed but its getting a bit tall to trim them.

This palm always looks good even when we have heavy onshore wind which pretty much burns everything else. The only problem is that they die suddenly a year or two after producing flowers. Not sure why but they literally die one day to the next. Ive been luckly and always manage to get viable seed before they die off.  This one is a third generation.

This one survived a lightning strike to a big Roystonia that was next to it. Lost the Roystonia and a few other around it but this one managed to survive. It was touch and go for several years and I really thought it was also going to die but it seems to be almost fully recovered. You can see in the photo of the trunk, changes to its thickness. This happened each time it looked like it was going to die off from the lightning strike.

Im trying to use Kerriodoxa elegans to hide the transformer on the property.  Hopefully in a few more years this area will be completely hidden.
