I have a few Joey palms and thought I should plant a few more in the ground my climate is not exactly perfect Joey conditions it can get dry I will persevere with the new plantings until there a bit more established all I know is there slow love water and humidity they do take temperatures as low as 2 degrees Celsius one has to take the chance and plant as early as possible they take years to grow in the subtropical climate iam planting these ones for the future generations so someone one day will appreciate them in there full glory

A few? Looks like you cornered the market of them, LOL. Hopefully yours do good in the ground! I had no luck I the ground, not just struggling to keep it going in a pot.

it would be a dream to have them grow large in the ground.

I wish you weren’t on the other side of the world. I would want to buy some from you! Not easy or cheap to come buy over here. Love the Kerridoxa as well, I have one large one in the ground and 5 more in 1 gal coming up.

Hey John, I was on a garden tour a few years back and I saw a grouping of Joeys in full sun, they were spectacular. It must take a few years to acclimate as I decided to try one in an exposed location and it’s doing OK, but like yours, the one with a bit of cover is looking much nicer.

Geeze Richard, a seedling supermarket. Where do you find the time to maintain the infant daycare?

Hi John I have read that they grow in full sun but that was due to road’s being made straight through the rainforest which back in the 80s it apparently caused a mass seeding of the joeys which they flooded the market with in the first real Joey seed introduction to the the market I think it was J L Dowe who wrote it either way iam glad they did flood the market (not the road)
