I have no local palm societies, but am a long distance member of several.

I do strongly suggest you join one or more societies even when you can not attend in person.

Today I received a newsletter from the PSSC and hopefully they will be OK with my post of the following from their current newsletter.

I enjoyed the following sentence, copied here:

I agree with this sentence.
I suspect all of you do too?

Hear! Hear! :) Excellent observation, Cindy.

I joined the Hawaii Island Palm Society long before buying property there. At the time I considered it an aspirational membership, rather than practical. 😎 And it was so cheap back then! $10/year! (Still cheap, despite inflation.) But what do you know, a few years later I was attending the occasional meeting. Oh what fabulous garden visits! Really gets the palmy adrenaline going! It's true, if all you get is an occasional email, it whets the palm appetite nicely. Broadens your horizons. For sure, my life is better with palm trees!

I can't imagine life without palm trees. I don't even want to think about it...

I am not involved with the local 'Boys Club' but do have a small circle of people to exchange palms and other plants with, also good to share knowledge or ideas.  I did receive a letter recently inviting me to join the local horticultural society completely out of the blue. (probably from me 'debating' with nursery owners who try to sell me a Licuala when I know it's a Roystonia)  I have joined but the thought of turning up at meetings or outings leaves me cold. I am such a misanthropic old bat these days.  Online groups suit me much better as there are no schedules to keep and I don't have to waste money on make up by staying at home.
