Today I took the following photos of my largest Dictyosperma. I have several smaller ones I will include in updates to our post-Ian gardens

I got some 4-inchers from Floribunda last year….   They became overgrown 1g specimens within a year, and seem very nonfussy here.   Have high hopes for these.   About ready to pop two in the ground.

This is a great one to grow. In the wild in habitat only one tree is left on Round Island just to the north of the main island of Mauritius. That’s the same island the bottle palm (Hyophorbe lagenicaulis) comes from.

I soooo wish these would grow in my CA 10a garden. It’s got to be one of my favorites! Tried twice and they just languish in our cool wet winters. Probably not enough heat in the summer either and I’ve got several warmth loving Licuala, Clinostigma, etc. palms doing well.

It was planted a few months ago as a 15 gal. Too replace a Chambeyronia Houailou that cakked it. I fell in love with these visiting Caribbean Palms, where I saw a grove growing in semishade. Up to then, I hadn't noticed how beautiful they are.

This thread just makes me want to rip out mine knowing it will never reach its potential. Bummer

I planted this from a healthy one gallon about 11 or 12 years ago. It seeds all the time and there are even a few volunteers that have survived. The conjugatum form is definitely the best looking in my opinion, but also the slowest growing for me. It puts out a lot of leaves, but doesn’t increase in height much comparatively.
