GMann
Is this the right set-up for a baby potted lipstick palm: In filtered sun/shade, in a deep saucer with 1-4 inches of standing water, depending on rain. Or is there a risk the water will stagnate with such a deep saucer? I am using a deep saucer because I dont know how deep the roots reach within the pot.
PalmatierMeg
That’s exactly how I kept my red and green lipsticks for years until they outgrew my back lanai screen. Never let them dry out. I kept them under shade cloth and they stayed that rich dark green. 1 Meg Palms of Victory I shall wear Cape Coral (It's Just Paradise) Florida Zone 10A on the Isabelle Canal Elevation: 15 feetI'd like to be under the sea in an octopus' garden in the shade. flplantguy
I wonder if a summer home under an AC drip pipe, dripping into the tray and not the pot, is doable? In the right yard you could just glance over every day to check the water level but it would have to be a perfect spot for such a prized plant. It looks happy too! Add a handful of time release fertilizer like osmocote every 3 months to the top of the pot. Current setup should ensure success! 👍 aztropic Mesa, Arizona Mesa, Arizona Temps between 29F and 115F each year
