Jubaea Chilensis first leaf emerging

Enar

Recommended Posts

This is a Jubaea Chilensis grown from seed and it’s officially putting out a first leaf. These things can be tough to get sprouted and can easily rot with too little sunlight or too damp soil.

soil mix: peat/top soil/earthworm castings mixed together and then the resulting medium finally mixed with 50% perlite.

pots are deep “disposable” plastic pots from Amazon.

humid zone 8a Alabama.

Very Nice, always exciting to see new sprouts. Soon they’ll look like this!

I'm trying my hand at jubaea and jubaea hybrids this year, so far only one hybrid has germinated.

Here is my "jubutia" so far.

What’s your germination method? I have got one single butia to germinate ever. @amh

I started with the baggy method, but in the next week, I'll be moving the seeds into community pots. I've found that warm outdoor conditions are more conducive for germination than baggies and heat mats.
