I am concerned about the growth of my needle palm.

Hello,

I am worried about the center spear of my needle palm. It grows indoors and receives full sun from an east facing window. Will the palm grow a new spear even though the original one has turned brown? Any advice?

Thanks!

totally unrelated: Why do you grow a cold hard needle palm in tropical Philippines? Just curious

Hi fotodimatti,

I live in Central New Jersey. I hope my needle palm pushes out new growth.

Thanks!

Hi Leelanau Palms,

My needle palm had died shortly after repotting it into a larger container.

I would not keep a needle palm as a year-round house plant. If you can't/won't plant it then protect it during major cold temp events, let it stay outdoors pretty much year round and bring it into the house/garage when lows head into the lethal range. When temps rise let it go outdoors. Many palm species hate growing in pots and want to be planted.
