2023 Joint Summer Meeting and Tour - 06/03/2023

Save the date!  As the logo suggests, this will be a joint meeting, primarily organized by SEPS, CFPACS, and FCPCS.  If there are folks from other areas who would like to attend, please do.  The current itinerary is shown below.  More days, stops, and events may be added as more of the details are still in the works. 

Tentative Itinerary:

  • Date: Saturday, June 3rd, 2023
  • Start Time: 10:00 AM
  • Place: Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens - 2 Canebrake Rd, Savannah, GA 31419
  • Description:
    • Enter the gardens through the main entrance on Canebrake Rd
    • Park in the main parking lot to the right of the Andrews Visitor and Education Center
    • Advise the front desk you are attending the palm society meeting
    • We'll have a short introduction and presentation followed by a tour of the gardens
    • Plant Auction/Sale/Exchange

Potential Add-on Sites:

  • Georgia Southern University - Armstrong Campus - 11935 Abercorn St, Savannah, GA 31419
  • Private Garden - Brunswick, GA
  • ????

For attendees who plan on staying the weekend, it is likely there will be some additional activities/tours on Sunday.

Saturday, June 3rd, 2023:

  • Site 1: Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens
    • Address: 2 Canebrake Rd, Savannah, GA 31419
    • Times: 10:00 AM - 12:00 Noon
    • Description:
      • Enter the gardens through the main entrance on Canebrake Rd
      • Park in the main parking lot to the right of the Andrews Visitor and Education Center

      • We'll have a short introduction and presentation, followed by a garden tour
      • Plant sale/auction/exchange
      • Break for lunch
  • Lunch:
    • For the folks not attending the additional portions of the tour, they can get a head start home.  
    • For those who are staying, use the long break to take auction/sale/exchange plants back to the hotel.  
    • Eat and then head to the second site.
  • Site 2: Georgia Southern University - Armstrong Campus

    • Times: 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM
    • Description:
      • Tour the garden.
      • Adjourn for the day.

We are pleased to announce that the Central Florida Palm and Cycad Society will be providing a hot lunch (Olive Garden) for the attendees.  If you plan on attending, please RSVP to the email or let us know on PalmTalk via post or PM so we can get a count.
