How much fertilizer?

Hello everyone, still new to palms.  Whats the correct amount for potted palms.

I’ve watched a few youtube videos and the nursery palms are loaded with fertilizer.  Is it to avoid ther fertilizers from flushing out after the waterings?

Looks like palm gain style fertilizer it is so slow release I'm sure it doesn't hurt lol I use an organic Scott's with kelp and worm castings. 3:2:3 pretty much all I can get in Canada

For pot sizes like the one on the front of the video I use Osmocote Plus Outdoor/indoor and I'd use about 1 of the included red scoops

I think they may have gone overboard with that one. But yes if it is a very slow release like nutricote or osmocote then you can go heavy. generally speaking older palms need more fertilizer as they are not as efficient. if you can get a homogenous blend like nutricote or osmocote then that is best to prevent any damage. if using a cheaper top dress then use sparingly
