After going to Turkey to visit family, I had interest in Palm Trees, and I thought as a joke if I can grow palm trees here. Can Palm Tree Sabal Brazoria grow in zone 7b? Also, how fast will it grow. Allen Posted January 30 Report Share Posted January 30 Like I said in your other thread Trachycarpus fortunei is the fastest trunking palm for 7b but may need protection in some years. You never answered where you are located which hampers the answer some. If you never want to protect you may need to stick with Sabal minor and Rhapidophyllum hystrix and maybe some Sabal hybrids. Palms and Pines Posted January 31 Report Share Posted January 31 (edited) Also keep in mind it will probably be even slower in a non humid climate. I’d say try a Brazoria, but also as said above try some trachys, they can be quite nice if well grown. If you can provide a Sabal with lots of sun, high heat and regular water most of the year you have a reasonable chance of growing one if you invest the time and effort and study.
