Philodendron info please

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone.
Can anyone please help with identifying this philodendron?  Is it P burle marxii?

In what hardiness zone can it grow under canopy outdoors?

It does look similar to Burle Marx, but the leaves are a bit more pointed on the 3 tips and the leaves are a bit larger than expected.  But if it's a shade-grown plant that might be normal.  Burle Marx (I think) is a little bit rounded on the ends.  So I'm not sure if it is that or something very similar.

Thank you Merlyn. Do you have a picture of one please?

Here's my "Burle Marx" climbing a Queen palm.  I would not guarantee the ID on my sample either, since it was a random eBay or Etsy purchase sometime in early 2020.

Thanks. I see what you mean by rounder. It appears that information on identifying philodendron species on the internet is limited. I can’t find one that looks exactly like mine

Yeah, there are so many varieties and the available information is a bit limited.  Regardless of whether yours is a "Burle Marx" or not, it's a really cool looking plant!  It might be something along the lines of Mexicanum.  That's the closest I could find with a tri-lobe leaf, ruffled edges and pointy tips.  They also hybridize somewhat easily, so it could be an intermediate hybrid of two of the smaller philodendrons.

Here are two sources that may be helpful for identification: Aroid Identification Center at facebook.com/groups/aroidid and David Sherberich's site, aroidpictures.fr

I cannot ID your philo.  It may be a hybrid.
