Hello, I want to grow the Carpentarian palm inside, because in South Rasht Iran it is too cold. How much growth it would have in 3 year inside my house?

Thank you

They are extremely fast palms. That's the only thing I know.

Hello,

I guess your Carpentaria acuminata would be substantially quicker growing than mine at 49 °N.  It is growing with natural light only, which is quite scarce here from Nov-Feb.

October 2018 (~60 cm high) :

Today(~170 cm high) :

Not as fast growing as you might think, without hot and humid conditions. I am sprouting a few Carpentaria seeds myself now, and have included a picture of a 3 year old plant from a previous batch. In 3 years grown inside, your plant will probably be less than half a meter tall.:greenthumb:

From what I can see from temperature data Rasht is zone 10a/b with the average extreme minimum being around 36 F about 2 C (correct me if I'm wrong).

You might try it outside as these palms are hardy to 30 F

Inground-   1x Syagrus romanzoffiana 2x Livingstona Chinensis 5x Phoenix Robelleni

In Pots-  3x Sabal Mexicana 5x Phoenix dactylifera 4x Sabal Palmetto 3x Livingstona Chinensis 3x Ravenea Rivularis 6x Cycas Revoluta

Go for it! If it lives happily and if it gets too big just plant it outdoors in a protected spot (protected from cold winds and frost mainly). If it gets that big, consider it a success!

Kentia plams (Howea forsteriana) is another good option for a long term indoor palm. These are known for long term success in bright indirect light, moderate humidity/moisture indoor environments. Good luck and keep us posted with pics!
