The city of Mohe in the extreme north of China reached a record all-time low for the country (-63F) in modern times:

Elsewhere in the region:

Beijing dropped to -16.7C (1.9F) extraordinary but not as cold as that of 2021 when it reached -3F, the coldest since 1966.

Shanghai fell to -6.6C (20F), preceded by light snow. The all time record low stands at -10C (14F).  This less than a year since it set an absolute heat record of 41C in July 2022.

Tokyo has dipped to -3C (27F), with a light snow shower, but may get even colder over the next couple of days. Temperatures below freezing are rather uncommon in modern Tokyo.

Looks cold. Tokyo is lucky to have the largest urban heat island in the world, some parts haven't gone below 28f near the sea. I've seen images of big phoenix canariensis and birds of paradise in Tokyo so it must be pretty mild there. Tokyo is pretty similar to here in the winter. We had our worst winter in 12 years and the low here was 28f and some parts of London it was only around 30f. Most years are frost free.

Quasi tropical like Southern Florida Hong Kong didn't even get near freezing. 9 or 10 C 49 f low, marking a warm January.
