Jubea x Butia F2 Germination and growth thread

Hey all.. I was blessed to get a bunch of Jubea x Butia F2 seeds last year (November 2nd) and I wanted to document my progress thus far.  I've never germinated Jubea or Butia seeds before, but have extensive experience with Sabals.

First these were soaked for 48 hours.

I then went out and got some of these plastic serving trays from a local big box store, put a layer of perlite on the bottom, little layer of water, and put them on a seed mat which keeps the bottom temp in the 90's (I believe).  It's my understanding they do not like light, so I just put some paper on top to keep light out.  One of the trays is on top of a gaming console in our family room so that gets a lot of heat.  Every week or so I spray some daconil on each one pretty methodically.

I waited... waited, and probably 3 weeks ago, got my first one.  Then a second days later, then another, and now I'm up to about seven that have popped.  I was told by someone very knowledgeable with the process that once they bust the seed, and start to build a root, even small, they can go on top of some dirt and in the sun.  I've done that, and the three thus far that are big enough, are thriving.

More progress to come and I will make sure to document it on my youtube channel (in signature).  Can't wait to see these grow up... the parent is a beautiful palm.

Just be aware that only a percentage of these will resemble the parent palm.  Some will resemble Butia and some Jubaea but it'll take awhile to know what you've got.  I had a BxJ F2 that looked and grew just like a pure Butia.  Certainly you'll get some nice palms!
