Spring is too long of a wait? Based on the current Gulf Coast weather it’s already here. Hopefully no surprises in February .

Did you protect your Butia x PJ? What variant of Parajubaea is it? I have a small BxPJ torallyi I’ve been wondering what it can handle in wet cold

I’m just tired of seeing my 2 beccariophoenix look so bad every year. Especially when no other palms took damage. I wrapped the trunk/ spear of the 4 b x pjc I have. Turned Out it wasn’t necessary. 4 nights 27, 24, 24, 28 and the fronds aren’t even damaged. Was a very dry cold though (dry for gulf coast anyway)

My Alfie got the same protection as all my Patric hybrids. It fried and spear pulled im not even trying to save it. Will replace with a BxPJS. I really want a Alfie to thrive but don't think it's in the cards for my area either.

It sounds like the bottom end on Alfies is probably in the low to mid 20s...or mid 20s with repeated nights.  Mine took essentially no damage over Christmas weekend.  It was 28, 26.5, 31 without frost, but with 20+ hours under freezing.  Last January they took about 25% leaf burn at 24-26F with frost but only about 10 hours below freezing.  So I'm guessing it was just 4 nights in a row in the mid 20s that torched them?
