Colored ones are the same price if you want some for “effect” when the protection isn’t needed.

thanks for the link 👍

You bought more than me!!!  Now I can tell my wife there is a crazier palm person out there!

Here is the top round cover I use for any palm over 5-6' that only needs 1 zone of extra protection

For a buck a piece it’s not worth going through all the ones that don’t work, to the garbage they go. Insta’ replacements 😎

Do the C9 leds provide any warmth or is it strictly the incandescent ones?

All bulbs will provide warmth based on their watt rating.  But led's are much less so.  I looked on Amazon and C9 leds were 1 watt and incandescent are 7watt so it takes 7 of the 1watt led C9's bulbs to equal the same heat output.

I got my 45 boxes.   I think they sold out.  They had to lose a ton of money shipping them to me.  A big heavy box

At least they're cheap enough that when those 1 or two bulbs burn out after the first year of use, you don't have to search for hours to find said bulbs. Just replace the whole string.

Solid zone 9, I can expect at least one night in the mid to low twenties every year.

Hot, dry summers. Cold, wet winters.

Old school light bulbs are the way to go because a huge percentage of the watts are strictly heat generation- not light. That's a big reason why the world is moving towards LED technology because more of the wattage is used in light generation, and a small amount is heat loss. What used to be a 100 watt incandescent is now a 14 watt LED, and much less heat generation/ losses. True, some heat is generated still with LEDs; but the purpose for us in this application here is that you want those watts to be used specifically FOR heat. The incandescent lamps are perfectly suited for this. We don't care about the light, we want the heat! You're going to get a little heat out of the LED C9's, but not much. The little incandescent strings will outperform the c9s all day long for heat generation.

Another consideration against the LED's: there is a circuit board and driver to get those electronic LED's to work. Heck, the LED itself is a little circuit device. Electronics don't like water, snow, etc.. The dumb incandescents are bulletproof in this regard. It's just a bulb with household power applied to it.

I have read that this is the last year for incandescent lights.  The lights that get warm.

They seem to always come back in stock at Lowes and HD every year but only after Halloween and not available online.  But I've been worried this would happen so I stocked up over the last couple years.  You can also buy year round at 1000bulbs.com although at much higher prices.

It seems Lowes says several are low in stock now so order quickly if anyone wants any.  You may or may not get as @R J experienced.   Best to pick up in store now if you can find still.  They may be gone though.  Here are other links to order ones

Home Depot looks like may have some available in Store only

Hopefully as it is a bargain.  You could literally resell on ebay for $8 each during off season.
