Today looking into the Jungle I noticed some red peeking through.

This particular flamethrower keeps getting more red each leaf. Beautiful! Others range from salmon color to red

Derrick, such great color! I never get tired of seeing these! The two tiniest C. hookeri in my garden each popped a red leaf simultaneously this  week too.

That’s some nice color there.   Lipstick red on yours.  I’ve got three planted behind some palms for protection, nestled in a sea of potted Acanthophoenix rubra and Dekenia Nobilis, that popped today.   The red on mine disappears in a few short days….

Wow that is a very nice and very red looking frond there! Just amazing! I am super envious! I can’t wait to plant my Chambey out in the next year or two. I’m just waiting for it to put on a bit more size so it is more hardy. I also need to move to my new house on the south coast of England, where frosts are rare.

Where I am currently located, I am about 35 miles inland and well outside of any towns or cities, so no UHI protection. Last winter I went down to about - 5C / 24F here, but the part of coastal Sussex, where I am moving, only went down to about 1C / 33-34F. I should be able to plant these crownshafts there once they are a bit bigger.

Regarding this species, were any of these posted grown from seeds by you?  If so, was the exact color of the parent palm producing this same color?  Jim, the new twin palms with identical color, had you been watching any previous frond development for matching color or just happened to purchase them at the same supplier.  Trying to learn about the color characteristics unless it is all random.

Good luck to you. I feel like this is a forever question many have asked. My Hookeri has been solid maroon and the same color since I can remember.
My Macro Watermelon has been changing to a more red color with every leaf as it gets bigger. My Houailou has just the hint of pink.
All over the board.
They are all unique in their own way. That’s the beauty of the genus.
