Just brainstorming a few ideas in order to save my palms this winter.

This is my 1st year growing majesty palms in zone 5b and Im planning to use red infared heat lamps that turn on when the temps drop to 45.

All this is inside a tee-pee wrapped with multiple layers of shrink wrap.

Is there anything Im missing? Is there any reason why this couldn't/wouldn't work?

You could probably add some incandescent lights for some extra heat when it goes below 45 and make sure when it's above freezing outside it gets good ventilation.  I'm definitely interested too see how this palm does being kept at almost a cool 45f all winter which is colder than the average temperature in January here, if it does well it I'd probably plant mine.  I would try and make sure the fronds don't touch the shrink wrap much, as that can transfer the cold onto the palm fronds.

Thanks for replying, ventilation was something I considered, I think air should be able to escape through the top hole where the bamboo meets at the top (that's what I used for the frame).

Majesty Palms obviously weren't the smartest palm to start with since this is my 1st year. but I have 18 Mexican Fan Palms growing in an aquarium in my house right now and next year I'm going to take a stab at those and windmill palm, regardless of what I'm doing this year works or not.

I also have a Sago Palm and a couple seeds I'm experimenting with
