Dang, sometimes you don’t look at your own garden enough!

A visitor earlier today noticed it and called it to my attention. Well, I was distracted yesterday by a mass PRA in HB in the OC.

Chambeyronia Houailou out in front of my house, putting up a nice new red leaf.

Looks amazing! That’s my favorite palm from New Caledonia and the very first palm I bought to start my collection from Josh almost two years ago. Your garden is epic!

We’re gonna need proof. Pictures are a must on these boards!! 🤣

I bought mine from Josh nearly 2yrs ago as well. However it just went in the ground in July. Its been a consistent grower. Not as slow as I imagined. Facing North, protected from the South by a wall and West by my Dictyosperma. Still gets a good amount of sun tho. Barely see a hint of color on the emergent. Picture from July as I’m currently out of town.

@DoomsDave, yours is in a perfect area. Gotta literally brush by it when you walk up to your front door so it’s a constant reminder. It’s growing awesome.

Pretty intense color on your Chambeyronia houailou Dave!  When I saw the post, mine was just starting to crack open a new leaf.  While mine shows some color on the new opening leaves, it is still pretty faint, especially compared to yours.  Is the current leaf opening on yours representative of prior leave's color or leaning more colorful?  Mine is between the fence with the neighbor and a walkway along the north side of my house, so pretty hard to get a good photo without adjacent palms and tree blocking part of the plant.

It's definitely getting more colorful with time.

At first, new leaves were plain green, or at least yellow green; they gradually got more orange, then rusty red, and finally really red, though not nearly as fast as hookeri and macrocarpa, which might be good because we can ogle and salivate over them longer.
