NorCalWill
Members of the Northern California Palm Society, as well as anyone else interested, are invited to participate in monthly, year round clean-up work meetings at the Lakeside Palmetum on the second Saturday of each month (unless otherwise posted). For those not familiar with the Lakeside Palmetum, it is located at 666 Bellevue Ave, Oakland CA within the Gardens at Lake Merritt https://gardensatlakemerritt.org/gardens-map/ Parking is free along Bellevue Avenue if you tell the parking attendant at the entrance that you are volunteering in the gardens. We will be doing general garden work, including raking leaves off of pathways, weeding, watering, removing fallen palm leaves, trimming off dead palm leaves, and occasional planting of new palms. Please bring your own garden gloves, weed pulling tools, and garden shears if you have. There are a limited amount of tools on site. This is a great opportunity to connect with other Bay Area palm enthusiasts. Coffee and scones are often provided. A clean and safe portable restroom is available inside of the gardens for volunteers only. Please message me for any additional info.
