Sabal Bermudana - Anyone else growing these?

I germinated a few sabal Bermuda seeds about a month ago and they are working on first strap leaf, I have a 3rd that's a little bit farther behind.

I am absolutely amazed by the roots on these things though. I had them in 6 inch pots to start, and then before anything even poked above surface of soil each pot had a long root extending 3 inches out the bottom of the pot.  I repotted them into 0.7 gallon pots about a week ago and ALREADY there are two roots coming out bottom on both sides in each pot.

Curious if anyone else is growing seedlings of these and what your experiences have been. Curious on what to expect

I'm germinating sabals too, Not bermudana. Just some Sabal Yapa seeds that I collected in Quintana Roo (Mexico), it's been 3 weeks since I put them to germinate and they're already pushing themselves to the surface. They started with a long root just like you mention. They're still pretty small for photos but I'll send some in the future. Some of the Sabal Yapa are gonna go in the ground and some others are gonna be sold to neighbors.

My seedlings are right at the same stage as yours - they germinated and popped up catching me by surprise last month!  I planted them 13 months before seeing any evidence of germination.  Sounds like I should go ahead and separate these and pot them up now.

I saw your other post in the main forum.  Did you get any pics of the mother palm?  Sabal yapa are zone 9b according to Palmpedia.

I don't have pics but here's a google maps street view of the mother palm, the seeds were collected at xcaret park.

I just planted out a 4 leave seedlings I grew from seed a few weeks ago. I think it was 1.5 years old. Will see how it does next growing season once it passes it first winter.

I’ve got a bunch started from seed, bermudana are faster than palmetto, minor, Birmingham, mexicana, Louisiana, and Brazoria from seed at my house. The leaves even the first and second one are huge compared to the others.
