I was wondering how tough these palms are I think they are neat palms but didn’t think they would survive Phoenix so I only bought one from Jeff I’ve had it all summer my greenhouse has gotten up to at least 120 3 times and it is growing like crazy I wish I would have bought more so I don’t think the heat will bother it so is it the cold they don’t like?

They tend not to like cold and frost.  The dwarf variety seems to have some level of cold tolerance above 30F as there a bunch of them here in town.

Yes. Our prolonged cool winters always seem to do them in. If your greenhouse never dropped below 65F all winter, you might have some success. Outdoor planting - forgetaboutit...

Planted my Areca catecha dwarf today love this palm the burned fronds are Hawaii fronds that didn’t like our weather but the 3 new fronds are phoenix fronds and look pretty good the first one that came out here was only 1/2 as big as the Hawaii fronds but I said if it lives I don’t mind small fronds but then the last 2 look great!! How fast do these grow mine put out 3 fronds since I bought it in the spring just curious!!
