Iguanura tenuis fruiting

I planted this palm in August of 2018 on a shady hillside.

Such a graceful, petite palm and I also like the very shiny colorful fruit.
Not sure how to tell when they are ripe other than waiting until the fruit falls?

I live in Puerto Rico to be able to grow plants like these outside without ever worrying about cold weather.

Please share your Iguanura photos.

Cindy, if the fruit separates easily from the rachilla when a slight pressure is applied, they are ready. If they are still developing, it would be hard to break them off.

Thanks Redant and Mike! I will check them tomorrow as it’s raining now.

And Palmarum I agree that they look like jelly beans! Funny.

After 24 hours, wearing gloves, the pulp was easy to remove.

I’ll post photos if/when they germinate. I’d enjoy a little forest of these.

This sp tends to sprout fast. Here are some amazing plants

I believe every seed planted June 7, 2022 germinated so the advice given here as to correct harvesting time was perfect!

Thanks!

You have to look closely as they are tiny.

Lots of rain recently as is normal for July so I did nothing except to put the soaked seeds into this community pot and ignore them.

I have been busy removing invasives so lots of space for baby palms!

Yesterday I potted up twenty babies. Next time I will give them more room in a larger community pot.

I watered the seeds once after planting them July 20 and watered the separated seedlings after putting them in pots September 2,  but only rain water the rest of the time.
