Sabal Uresana, the green-gray coastal form I Believe purchased from Barton Springs Nursery around 2009 as a 5 gallon.

Week of 32F and below, 6-8 inches snow, 1 inch ice. Had to trunk cut it. The new spear was rotted and it was too big to push out new growth.

No just ice and about 36 hours of high winds and 1/4 of ice. Low of 22F. ( Last year 4F. )

April 3 and May 10, 2021…. the weeds are now gone! Actually felt like gardening again.

It has a weeping leaf habit. The fronds are quite large, it is one of the larger leaf Sabals. I had a Washingtonia Robusta Hybrid do it. So I am not sure if this is a normal habit.

I think I am very happy with it. Believe it or not, at one time I wanted to remove it when it wasn’t silvery enough… but if any palm can take that kind of cold it’s worthy of keeping.

Nice decision to cut down into the trunk . In my 2018 similar cold snap here I wish I had trunk cut one of my Palmettos . I just kept watching thinking I was seeing growth and by about early June I realized it was toast .
