They remodeling the building?

Trees in the pond look like Taxodium   ..Second picture looks like regular ol' Bald Cypress,  1st picture,  sure looks like Pond Cypress, T. ascendens.   If so, very cool to see one in CA.

If we're having a contest, my washy, "Dirty Sanchez," is at least a contender.

I walk those grounds every now and then. Seems like I always find something I’ve never seen before.

Side Note: Who buys an annual pass to the SD Zoo just to walk around and look at the gardens?……..Guilty as charged.

Thanks Paul, brought back memories of my 20 odd years living near Balboa Park. I remember most of those palm planting locations well, palm canyon was my happy place.

Green leaf is probably Cussonia spicata.  The other species of Cussonia  I've seen grown here in San Diego has the silver leaves, C paniculata.  Interesting the way they burst a bunch of new leaves when they grow, much like a cycad would do.  The Zoo and Balboa Park are such gems!

Same here. People often tell me there are animals at the Zoo and my response is always: "Really? I've never noticed."
